The Critical Consciousness COLLABORATIVE works together to promote health equity in the fields of substance use disorders, infectious disease, and the criminal legal system.
THE 3CB includes approximately 20 members representing, community residents, health care consumers, service providers, and scientists, all of them dedicated to implementing critical consciousness theory and community based participatory research principles to promote health equity.
WE COLLABORATE WITH Community Based Organizations that directly serve those impacted by HIV/HCV/COVID-19 infection, substance use disorders, and/or incarceration. We communicate the results of our research to community members, the scientific community, potential agency funders and those in local government.
OUR ADVOCACY is driven by scientific methods and informed by critical consciousness and empowerment theories. We are excited to educate our community about critical consciousness in expectation that we can all engage in critical dialogue and critical action against the issues facing our community.
WE EMPOWER PEOPLE with histories of HIV/HCV, substance use disorders, and incarceration to advocate for their health and for equity. We do this through community engagement , participation, and through research—all backed by critical thinking.
DIRECT SERVICES for those with HIV/HCV, substance use disorders, and incarceration issues are provided by our community service partners and through our research projects. For more information or to contact them, see their logos below.
